From Burnout to Chill Out – After Imposter Syndrome

Matthew had been dangerously close to burnout.

As managing director of a £22M company, he worked very long hours and felt constantly against deadlines.

He spent long periods procrastinating, unable to move forwards because he needed his work and presentations to be perfect first. He then spent long hours tweaking and refining things.

Matthew was always switched on and highly strung as a result. He was easily annoyed when things went wrong, or when they were just not perfect. He was irritable with his team and then regretted it later. This was not the kind of leader he wanted to be.

And Matthew had so many sleepless nights they felt normal for him and he was completely exhausted.

Matthew gave the Inner Success programme a 5-star review, saying ‘I feel calmer and I now have time to enjoy being with friends and family.

It sounded like such a mild statement, but it represented a massive change from his previous imposter syndrome misery.

Becoming calm meant he became unflappable, stopped being over-controlling, and delegated better allowing others to contribute more.

He was becoming the kind of leader he’d always wanted to be; relaxed, open to other’s ideas, developing talent rather than feeling threatened.

Matthew was now setting the tone for his whole company’s culture, aligned with his core values of teamwork and respect for everyone.

He now had the time to think strategically and plan well. He was enjoying his workdays rather than dreading them, and he felt his confidence was effortless.

And he could finally switch off easily, sleep well and enjoy time with his family.

Matthew says “Inner Success will, at its simplest, teach you to be more at peace with the work you do and consequently, yourself”
